Anthony Fung served as Deputy Secretary of Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia. In this capacity, Anthony served as a senior advisor to the Commonwealth on technology matters including, data analytics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, innovation and entrepreneurship, and technology operations.
Prior to joining the Governor’s Cabinet, Anthony was the CEO of a professional consulting firm, which serviced Federal focused clients such as DoD, HHS, DHS, and GSA. Anthony also served as a SCORE counselor, providing advice to small business on start-up best practices, business operations, and strategy.
Anthony has been recognized as one of Washington’s top business leaders, recipient of Washington Business Journal’s Award, SmartCEO Top 100 CEOs, and named Top 40 Under 40 Business Leader.
Joel Cherkis is the Vice President of the Global Public Sector Industry at UiPath. He is focused on driving Public Sector-specific product features in support of intelligent automation solutions. Prior to joining UiPath, he was the Global Vice President of Infrastructure, Government, Education, and Health within Oracle’s Industry Solutions Group and was focused on driving industry strategy and solutions to deliver growth across Oracle’s customer and partner base. Prior to (re)joining Oracle, he spent 11 years at Microsoft as the General Manager of Government & Defense Industry Sales within the Worldwide Public Sector division at Microsoft Corp.
Before joining Microsoft, Cherkis spent nine years at Oracle Corp. where he served as a worldwide technical instructor teaching database design, architecture and data modeling before he moved on to developing technologies that enabled governments and corporations to build efficient applications that lowered their overall ownership and operation costs. Cherkis began his career as an application developer with ExxonMobil Corp. where he developed mainframe- and midrange-based applications that managed refinery, pipeline and product packaging systems in addition to helping develop the company’s global customer accounting systems.
Prior to coming to the commonwealth, Jonathan has extensive experience in the private sector across the healthcare, consulting, financial services, and technology verticals and across the globe. This experience has been across nimble technology startup companies to industry leaders such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Johnson and Johnson, Becton Dickinson, Siemens Healthcare, and Citibank. He specializes as a turnaround and transformation executive with a proprietary methodology that delivers measurable outcomes rapidly. This methodology has delivered quantifiable top and bottom line improvements ranging from $8 million to $105 million within a range of 1 to 2 years.
In addition, Jonathan has a penchant for research, development, and innovation with a specialty in artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and machine learning. He has designed and developed systems ranging from a predictive commodity trading system, a medical device research and development Enterprise Program Management (EPM) system, and a cutting-edge last mile logistics platform and SaaS solution.
Aneesh Chopra is the President of CareJourney, an open data membership service building a trusted, transparent rating system for physicians, networks, facilities and markets on the move to value. He served as the first U.S. Chief Technology Officer under President Obama (’09-’12) and in 2014, authored, “Innovative State: How New Technologies can Transform Government.” He serves on the Board of the Health Care Cost Institute, the New Jersey Innovation Institute, and earned his MPP from Harvard Kennedy School and BA from The Johns Hopkins University.
